Sex and Roleplay

SEX!!!!  We all think about it, daydream about it and with the advent of the internet and now virtual worlds we can roleplay having sex.  Roleplaying sex can be great, for all the obvious reasons, but it can also be a great exercise in developing writing skills and emoting.  It is my considered opinion that if you have good writing skill and can emote, you can have really great rp sex.

In my time in SL, I have had some really great roleplay sex scenes.  I have also had some really disappointing ones.as well.  What was the difference?  Why did one rock my world while the other left me yawning and ready for bed?  It comes down to as I said before, writing skills, ability to emote and imagination.  As an example, I once was in an rp story that led to rp sex.  This person could write and emote, but when it came to sex it was pretty much, "ohhh, I am so hot, ahh, mmmm..." well that is all well and good but it doesnt paint a picture at all.  Now a good one went something like this, "sallyslut moans loudly as he slides his large shaft into her wet heat.  She arched her back to take in as much of him as she could while her arms snaked around his neck"  See the difference?  Sallyslut gave me some reactions telling me how her body was reacting.

Now do we really have sex when roleplaying?  Sometimes yes.  If I have a partner that I am really getting into it with, then yes, I do have the reactions that most healthy humans have to erotic literature.  But it remains roleplay as long as it is in character.  Now if we go into IMs and make mention of how this is making us feel, how our bodies are reacting, then we enter the realm of cybersex.  It is no longer just the characters involved, but the typists are now part of it.  Is this ok?  Sure, if both parties are agreeable and are above the age of consent.  Cybersex can be satisfying, though it will never take the place of Real World sex.  I think everyone agrees on that, but in the context of what it is, it can be great fun.

Gorean Roleplay and moderating

I have been playing in gorean sims for almost a year now.  I must say I have enjoyed the experience immensely.  However, it comes with a caveat, and that is the OOC drama (read fighting), that goes on in that genre.  I was an admin back in Deadwood and had to deal with griefers and whiners.  I can deal with that, I can even deal with the folks who mix their IC/OOC, its a learning opportunity.  However in Gor, for whatever reason, we seem to have more than our fair share of asshats.  I remember once in Clearchus I was called to mod a dispute between raiders of another sim with several of Clearchus' men.  It was extremely hard to concentrate as these guys were calling each other every kind of name they could think of OOCly.  Tempers were fraying, including mine.  I finally had to threaten them, by telling them that the next one who spoke OOCly was going to get booted out of the sim, and I included Clearchus men in that warning.  I was polite, but firm on the outside.  Inside my mind was screaming, "You bunch of juvenile cock chafers, shut the fuck up!"  *sighs* I guess its good I did not say that at the time but, Priest Kings preserve us, some of these people get on your last freaking nerve.
In any case, being a mod in a gorean sim is a tough job, because not only do you have your own people to contend with, but as I just referred to, you have any given number of folks dropping by to pay an unwelcome visit.  Now, what is the purpose of this little diatribe you ask?  Well, quite frankly, I just wanted to get that off my chest.  I have seen really great moderators/admins who get burned out having to deal with such asshattery.  Now, as a manager in Real Life, I expect my people to bring me a solution when they come to me with a problem..  Same goes here, so, one solution for gorean sims is to have a rotation of moderators.  Perhaps a team of 7 or 8 people, depending on sim size that rotate active and inactive.  Perhaps 2 people are off while the other 5 are active, though all of them will need access to any forum or such that the sim uses for communication between mods..  Just a thought, perhaps I might even pass that one along.

Greetings

This blog is going to be about Second Life and Real Life. This will be a way for me to organize and sort out my thoughts and feelings as I go along. Primarily I will be talking about roleplay within Second Life, and every so often, I will post something from Real Life that I feel is noteworthy. Normally it will NOT be about my Real Life, though I will not totally preclude that possiblity. In addition I will be posting some short stories from time to time. Some will be rp based and some will just be flights of fancy for me.
Now I doubt that I will be posting every day, but will make an effort to post at least a couple times a week. One thing I know is, if I want the creative juices to start flowing from the keyboard, then I have to be sitting in front of it actually typing.
Now to any who might happen across this blog, feel free to reply to any posts of mine. If you have a blog yourself please give me the addy for it. I love to read what others think about, well, just about anything. Oh, one last thing for any who read this. Sometimes my writing will be very erotic. If this bothers or offends you, then please skip on by. For those who enjoy such writing and you are female, look me up inworld :)
